The Hungarian Organization “The City is for all” and the “European Action Coalition for the Right to Housing and the City” called for three days of international solidarity action against the criminalization of homelessness by the Hungarian government. Local groups in 15 cities organized protests between 13th and 15th February 2014.
Initiated by Hungarian homeless advocacy group The City is for All, local groups in 9 countries are organizing solidarity events to protest against the criminalization of homelessness in Hungary. The persecution of homeless people is in violation of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union, the European Convention on Human Rights, and the UN International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
Groups in more than 8 cities plan to follow the call for parallel intrenational action against the criminalization of homeless in Hungary.
“The City is for All” (Budapest) invites the friends all over the world to join the struggle against the criminalisation of homelessness in Hungary by action between Feb, 13th and Feb. 15th. The European Action Coalition for the Right to Housing and the City supports the call.
