RECLAIMING-SPACES MAGAZINE

The production of the reclaiming spaces magazine builds the main practical focus of our co-work.

Target group of the publication: Multiplicators like urban activists, organizers, campaigners, researchers, journalists, progressive politicians in various cities and countries; related (international) networks and organizations; specialized journalists, artists, media. The specific target group can change from issue to issue.

Print Format: The magazine will be produced in A4 for PDF. Prints depending on resources.

Format of articles: Good mixture of all kinds of journalistic forms like features, reportages, interviews, comments and statements, background, essays, documentation, news, announcements, standardized info pages, picture stories. The magazines should beare intensively illustrated with by photos, comics, maps and info graphic.

Languages: Basic language normally will be English. Abstracts in other languages, if possible. Multilingual or translated issues are needed for international enlargement, rooting and impact. But for translations we would need more capacities and resources. Support urgently needed.

Thematic issues: Each issue will have a specific thematic main focus with international relevance (best a theme with stories from diverse cities), accompanied by some regular services (event calendar, news, announcements). It can and if possible should be linked to an environment of action.

Web-integrated production: The thematic focus of each issue should be prepared by using a thematic blog on the “reclaiming spaces”-website. There, the main questions and tasks can be addressed, provisional contributions can be drafted and discussed, material for later editing can be collected. The publishing of a magazine issue can be based on a selection from the thematic blog. After publishing a magazine the related blog will be maintained and updated, including possible translations. Blogs can include video and audio files and should provide links to related sources.

Decentralized editing teams for thematic issues: Each thematic issue (= the blog and the magazine) is coordinated by a specific group of editors and producers.
