PRODUCTION PROCESS

overall structure and production process

The building of an open and decentralized structure for our network is a part and outcome of our practical development. This is a very provisional sketch:

The very basis of “reclaiming spaces” is built by a network of local “CORRESPONDENTS“. These correspondents work closely with local groups and organizations, but as independent radical journalists.

Correspondents in a specific city or region should build a LOCAL REFERENCE POINT/GROUP. Such REFERENCE GROUPs can play an important role in organizing and producing an issue.

A reference point together with other correspondents builds a THEMATIC EDITING GROUP, which is responsible for the organization and production of a thematic magazine issue as well as for the coordination and maintenance of a related thematic blog.

The reference points together with other correspondents choose an overall COORDINATION GROUP of reclaiming spaces. The task oft this group is the coordination of the general development, debates, fund raising, general meetings etc. of the overall project.

Thus, the production of the magazines as well as the maintenance of the thematic blogs is decentralized. It changes from one group to another for each issue (if possible). The entire group will have full control over the specific issue and its production. Integration of the particular products is a matter of political content rather than of formalities.

The PROCESS OF WORK on a thematic issue normally starts with establishing a little initial group and thematic blog, in which material for later issue gets collected. The editing committee for the theme will draft a concept and plan for a magazine issue. The issue editing team will communicate the steps with the general coordination and the correspondents. It independently will look for supporters, resources and the details of production.
